It’s necessary to encourage your employees to take care of themselves. Wellness is going to be needed if they want to do well at work. But a lot of employees don’t understand the meaning of wellness and aren’t interested in it.
Preconceived Notions About Wellness
Some people imagine themselves having to do yoga and getting into pretzel-like positions for wellness. Or maybe they think they’ll have to go huffing and puffing on a treadmill. Or eating salad all the time. No doubt all these things are great for your health but wellness doesn’t have to include things that make you uncomfortable.
Doing Enjoyable Things for Wellness
You can also do enjoyable things and take care of yourself at the same time. One great way to do this is to make a list of all the things that you like to do. The list might go something like this:
- Eat chocolate
- Read a book
- Watch a movie
- Play tennis
- Go for a jog
- Have a cup of tea
- Have a cup of hot chocolate
- Have a glass of wine
- Meet a friend for a chat
- Get a good night’s sleep
Obviously there are many unhealthy things in this list, such as eating chocolate cake. But, hey look, there are some great healthy things in this list, like jogging and reading. Why not do the things you enjoy for wellness? All you need is just a little push to remember what those things are.
Introduce Your Employees to New Things to Aid Their Wellness
It can also be a great idea to introduce your employees to new things that will aid their wellness. Give them a complimentary yoga or meditation class. Teach them how to improve their posture at work. Encourage them to decorate their cubicles so that they feel good all day long.
