If you’ve been at home the last few months in an effort to practice social distancing, you may be feeling a bit of cabin fever. This is not unusual; most people have been feeling this way. However, you can also consider your time at home as an opportunity to do all the things that you meant to do but never had the time for. Try some yoga, catch up on sleep, clear out your closet and start some creative projects. You’ll feel a lot more satisfied with this productive way of spending your time.
Try Yoga
It’s difficult to take walks or go for a run with a mask on. In fact, it can even be dangerous. Instead, yoga can be a great alternative. Yoga is something you can do indoors in comfortable clothes. Plus, each person can do as much as possible for them and still reap the benefits. So try doing a cat stretch, a sideways stretch, a twist or a downward facing dog. You’ll feel refreshed afterwards.
Clean Out Your Closet
You’ve probably thought about cleaning out your closet or your bookshelf for a while but maybe you haven’t known where to begin. If you’re still practicing social distancing, take the time to clean your home out, section by section and throw out everything that you haven’t used in six months or more. If you’re not ready to throw these things out yet, put them in storage under your bed. After two months, if they’re still lying unused, throw them out.
Take Up a Creative Project
Many of us think about taking up a new hobby like painting, writing a blog or origami. But we never make the time to do this. If you’re still practicing social distancing, that gives you plenty of time to at least try one of these things. You can order some supplies online and look up some YouTube tutorials. And then, just be as creative as you like.
Learn to Be Positive
Positivity is very important for everyone to have a happy life. Being positive can also help you to be more successful. And although it has not been proven, a lot of people believe that your immunity also improves when you are positive.
But you may not be sure how to go about being more positive. How can you change the thoughts inside your head? One way to do this is to try to say only positive things for the next day. Catch yourself whenever you hear yourself saying something negative. You can also make a list of things you are grateful for.
Catch Up on Sleep
Sleep is really important for everyone, but most of us don’t get enough of it. If you’re spending a lot of time at home, you can take the opportunity to catch up on sleep. One good way to get a good night’s sleep is by dimming your lights an hour or two before bed. You can also drink something warm (but not caffeinated) before you sleep. And try to read a book instead of watching TV as this will calm your nerves.
